While cultural tourism has already been successfully established in urban centres, there is still a lot of unused potential in rural areas waiting to be developed. Initiatives have been launched at state and federal level with the aim of stimulating the development of rural regions as a whole by developing and marketing cultural tourism offers. Apart from these decidedly practical efforts, however, there have been hardly any publications on the subject to date.
